Backcountry College is an educational video series produced in association with Backcounty Hunters & Anglers.

These how to videos focus on survival skills and woodsmanship and teach hunting, fishing, or camping skills for everyone from beginner to expert. You’ll find videos on topics such as how to start a fire in the rain, how to rig a block and tackle for hanging gear in bear country, and quick tips on using a ferro rod and storing paracord.

If you’re anything like us, you tend to spend a lot of time well off the beaten path where, if a problem comes up, no one’s coming to help. You’ll need to deal with whatever comes up, and these survival skills and woodsmanship videos will help get you prepared.

With that said, there’s no amount of book knowledge or watching videos that’ll make you an expert woodsman. For that, you’ve got to get out and practice. That’s one of the things I really try to stress is practicing these survival skills when you can afford to learn from your mistakes. You sure don’t want to be figuring this stuff out for the first time when you find yourself in a survival situation. We’re constantly uploading new outdoor skills videos so check back often.
